An update for those interested: OF:DR was supposed to have a regular expansion set available every month or so (for free!) which would contain MP maps and SP campaigns. On the 16th February, Codemasters Community Manager 'Helios' announced that Codemasters were no longer working on Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising content. Bummer.
They have, however, already released a DLC called 'Skirmish'. It's fairly small and only takes a few minutes to d/l. Content includes four multiplayer maps and two Fire Team Engagements. It's free BTW and available here. The advertising blurb is as follows:
The 'Skirmish' DLC features four new multiplayer maps and two new Fire Team Engagement (FTE) missions featuring both solo and four player co-operative play. Hunt down SAM launchers hidden in the sprawling complex of 'Lumberyard' and assault dug in PLA forces and fight room to room in 'White Fang', two tense new 'Infiltration' multiplayer maps. 'Annihilation' multiplayer maps pitch armour and infantry against each other in rolling battles across a valley in 'Stomping Grounds' and in 'Force Dispersal' military bases separated by a strategic hill become a close-quarters killing ground. New FTE missions include 'All Round Defence', which places gamers in control of air support and attack helicopters as they defend a fortified complex against relentless waves of PLA. In 'Uphill Struggle' players must capture a bunker under heavy fire from hillside reinforcements. Gamers can also recon the entire 220 km² island of Skira alone or co-operatively in a range of vehicles at day or night in 'Island Tour.' Angry...but not as angry as Angry Hitler Baby!!
Just get properly informed pls you could find this info, if interested in it anywhere in the libaray. Not that it matters as iam sure the game will not live up to your and a lot of other peeps needs. As long as iam gonne have some fun that is all that matter LOL:)
Dedicated servers, sure. But you will only get them from Gameservers.com. Also, there will not be any public server files. Public files would allow you to run the game from your own server, you will have to rent them from Gameservers exclusively it seems. But ranked or unranked servers will be available from this (trusted GSP) provider. In other words, you as the admin will have access to your server and you will be able to configure the server or mod it.
The game will be distributed exclusively through Steam and that means VAC - not Punk Buster. VAC does not have the same anti-cheat savvy that PB has, so we will need to monitor the resilience of VAC to counter the hackers out there.
